Why can’t we just stop using MasterCard?

Many members have been asking, “If these new verification regulations are coming from MasterCard, why not just stop using MasterCard?” Trust us, if it were that simple, we would have asked everyone to find an alternative payment method a while ago.

The reality of the situation is a bit more complicated than one credit card company. MasterCard has only produced these compliance regulations and has left in the hands of payment processing companies to monitor and enforce them. Sites like BateWorld are tasked with keeping records for the processing companies.

In a nutshell, because the payment processors rely on MasterCard for a big chunk of their business, they are not willing to cut ties with them. Therefore, they have to monitor the sites that use them for payment processing. Unfortunately, it looks like other credit card companies and banks will be falling in step with MasterCard.

For years it’s been a challenge for websites who host adult content to find companies willing to process payments. SegPay and CCBill are two of the very few. They have made it clear that in order to continue operating, BateWorld has one choice – either start verifying users who upload and stream adult content, or close. We believe in free speech on the internet. We believe that adult spaces deserve to exist in the public domain. BateWorld has been and continues to be a place for sex positive community to grow. To survive and thrive, BateWorld has to comply with these new regulations.
